water pump bearing failed and as a result, it screwed the seal up and it was puking coolant. That was a brand new OEM pump, but he had replaced the alternator himself shortly after we built the engine because its front bearing was whining (and we dont put new alternators on engine builds unless the customer pays for it, and he didn't). In replacing the alternator we think he overtightened the belt and it overstressed the water pump bearings and made them fail. We aren't sure of that, but the pump was brand new and it failed in 3500 miles. The thermostat was also brand new. We dont re-use that in an engine build either. It was correctly installed as well, but it stuck wide open because of a manufacturing defect and it wasn't noticed when it was installed. I wouldn't call it fixing our mistakes by any means - but we stepped up to the plate and took care of him regardless. You would probably be amazed at how much of this kind of stuff Z1 takes care of; we would have an entire page of these kinds of posts almost weekly if people were to actually talk about them. Josh is certainly a customer we appreciate because he appreciates us. Thanks Josh!
